1. Permitted Use
The EE-IX Platform is provided exclusively for the exchange of Internet traffic between Member networks.
Permitted activities include:
- Exchanging IP traffic via public peering on the shared peering LAN
- Establishing bilateral BGP peering sessions with other Members
- Using EE-IX route servers for multilateral peering
- Using subscribed services such as Private Network Interconnect (PNI), remote peering, or VLAN services
- Sending ARP (IPv4), ICMPv6 Neighbour Discovery (IPv6), and BGP control traffic required for normal peering operations
2. Prohibited Activities
2.1 Traffic and Routing Violations
- Announcing IP prefixes that the Member is not authorised to originate (route hijacking)
- Route leaks, including accidental or misconfigured propagation of third-party routes
- Using the peering LAN as a transit network or for default routing
- Forwarding third-party traffic without agreement
- Sending broadcast traffic other than ARP (no DHCP, STP, CDP/LLDP flooding, or multicast flooding)
- MAC address spoofing or exceeding the allocated MAC address per Port
- Enabling Proxy ARP
- ARP manipulation or poisoning
2.2 Abuse and Security Violations
- Launching or facilitating DoS or DDoS attacks
- Port scanning, vulnerability scanning, or probing other Members without explicit consent
- Distributing malware or malicious software
- Intercepting or monitoring traffic not destined for the Member’s own network
- Any activity that degrades, disrupts, or threatens Platform stability or security
2.3 Commercial and Operational Misuse
- Reselling or redistributing Platform access without prior written consent from Airbytes
- Allowing unauthorised third-party access
- Misrepresenting identity, ASN ownership, or routing authority
- Using the Platform for purposes unrelated to legitimate network interconnection
3. Enforcement
Airbytes Communications Limited monitors the EE-IX Platform to ensure compliance with this AUP.
In the event of a violation, Airbytes may:
- Issue a formal warning
- Apply temporary route filtering
- Block or null-route offending traffic
- Suspend the Member’s Port
- Immediately disconnect the Member
- Terminate membership for severe or repeated violations
Where practical, Members will be notified and given a reasonable opportunity to remedy the issue. However, Airbytes reserves the right to act immediately without notice where a violation presents an imminent threat to Platform stability, security, or legal compliance.
4. Reporting Violations
Suspected violations of this AUP should be reported to the EE-IX Network Operations Centre:

Members are expected to respond promptly to abuse or NOC notifications.
5. Policy Updates
Airbytes may amend this AUP at any time. Revised versions will be published on the EE-IX website and communicated to Members via email.
Continued use of the Platform after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
